We have tested the EX-3.. The PMW-EX3 a fantastic little camera. We tested the resolution, ASA and Dynamic Range. These test results will be published soon...
What I can say is the EX-1 is 640 asa in interlaced mode and 320 asa in PsF.
This is because we lose 1 f-stop when engaging the 180 degree shutter.
We will have results from recording to the SXS card and comparing it to direct recording on SRW-1 4:2:2 HD-SDI.
At this point it is simple to tranfer the SXS files to FCP and normal back-up to PC.
This 1/2" chip and lens make the P2 camera look like VHS on the resolution chart and when doing chromakey.
The Technology is moving so fast..it makes it hard to make future proof decisions on Camera's.
P2 was a very good idea, but Sony has really come up with something special.
The SXS card system will be around for quite some time and the speed of reading to computer is more than fast enough.
If anyone is wanting to buy a camcorder that will deliver amazing resolution / dynamic range
and high speed post production, then this is the Camera for you.
A great bonus is the fact that it takes 12v DC, this means you can use the V-Lock batteries with an adaptor or the Lead paste batteries.
Use a LETUS ULTRA or EXTREEM adaptor with NIKON lenses and it will blow most cameras out the water in the same price range.
